Suffolk (sheep)

The Suffolk Sheep is a domestic breed of sheep. The breed has been known since the late 18th century from England and was born as a crossing Southdown and Norfolk Horn sheep. The stud book was closed until the end of the 19th century. In North America, the breed was introduced and changed a lot further cultured ( English and American Suffolk Suffolk ).

Features

The Suffolk Sheep is considered very precocious and vigorously growing meat sheep. The body is elongated and broad with low legs and back straight. The sheep are very muscular, so breasts, legs and back are very strong. The wool is generally white, face, ears and legs are jet black and only hairy smooth. Neither sheep nor goats have horns. Full-grown breeding bucks can reach live weights of over 200 kilograms. Lamb bucks ( yearlings ) already achieve an impressive weight of about 100 kilograms and more.
