Suilbergau

The Suilbergau (also Sülberggau ) was a medieval district. It was a narrow landscape strip between Solling and leash.

It bordered on the east by the Rittigau, to the south by the district to Moringen, on the west by the Augau and to the north by the provinces and Wikanafeld Aringo. The eastern part of the Suilbergaus formed several today belonging to Einbeck villages, the western part of some of today belonging to Dassel villages. The district was part of the Saxon province Ostfalen.

In and on Suilbergau the interests of the dioceses of Mainz, Hildesheim and Paderborn clashed. The district belonged to the diocese of Mainz, only the church Dassel Hildesheimer bishops had influence.

The Corveyer traditions known in the first millennium in pagus silbirgi already following members:

  • Emmo ( 822-826 )
  • Theodger ( 826-853 )
  • Geroldus ( 854-877 )
  • Sigifridus (877)
  • Bernhardus ( 900-916 ).

In the 12th century the Suilbergau was mentioned by name as pagus sulbergowe in donations to the monastery of Corvey local Edler, which confirmed Reinold I of Dassel.

The Gogericht was held on a hill between the present locations Strodthagen and Sülbeck.
