The term has different meanings in suit. In its most general, today rather unusual importance (eg, the military ) is suit " has everything you put on at the same time / on ". ( The simple everyday language, yet rather the child language used " clothes " similar. )

When we speak today of costume skirts (two-part ) or dress (one-piece ). Most of the suits are two-piece and consist of upper and lower part. Sometimes they are also one-piece ( jumpsuit ), three-part ( eg a jacket, vest, pants ) or more parts.
Even further concentrated and probably used most commonly referred to suit the classic men's suit. It consists of jacket and pants and sometimes a vest in the same upper.
