Sukošan

The place Sukošan is a Croatian tourist town and harbor along the bay " Zlatna Luka " ( Gold Harbour ), which is also home to the Marina Dalmacija, the biggest marina on the Adriatic. Sukošan located 10 km south-east along the coastal road from Zadar and is therefore in close proximity to 5 National Parks and 2 Nature Parks.

The municipality had Sukošan in 2011 4.583 inhabitants. Most of them were Catholic Croats. Sukošan has many beaches and is located right at the gate of the Kornati archipelago. The population of the town thrives on tourism, agriculture and especially the olive, fruit and wine. The greater community Sukošan belong the localities Debeljak, Glavica and Gorica.

Attractions

In addition to the sea and beach, there are also some attractions in Sukošan.

The Church of the gracious Madonna, which is located in the center of the old village of Sukošan was built in the 17th century. It stands directly opposite the city gate " Gornja Vrata " in the square. Kassian was in the third century after Christ, a teacher in Imola, who taught secretly Christianity. Due to its location the place Sukošan is surrounded by 5 National Parks and 2 Nature Parks of paramount importance. These are the Plitvice Lakes National Park, the National Park Kornati, Paklenica National Park, Krka National Park and the National Park Northern Velebit, and the Nature Park Telašćica and the Vrana Lake Nature Park. The Plitvice Lakes National Park is part of the list of UNESCO World Heritage ( Europe).
