Şükrü Ersoy

Ali Şükrü Ersoy ( born December 1, 1931 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football goalkeeper. Through his many years of service for Fenerbahce he is strongly associated with this club. On fan and club sides, he is regarded as one of the greatest players in the club's history.

Playing career

Association

Ersoy began playing football in the youth of Fenerbahce and switched to Vefa Istanbul. For this club he played until 1953. Subsequently, he began his military service and therefore played for the team of military ground forces, the Karagücü. As he performed his military service in the Turkish capital Ankara, he played alongside his work at Karagücü for the club MKE Ankaragucu.

After the end of his military service he returned to his home city of Istanbul and was hired by Fenerbahçe Istanbul. Here he fought his way to immediately secured a regular place and was with his team twice champion of regional discharged İstanbul Futbol Ligi. In the summer of 1959, one erlang the first championship of the newly established and nationally designed Süper Lig Two years later succeeded in the team again, the championship to decide for themselves.

For the summer of 1962, he joined the Austrian tradition SV Austria Salzburg. For the Salzburg he played the next two seasons and then ended his active career football player.

National

Ersoy played for the first time for Turkey on 28 October 1950 in a friendship game against the Israeli national team. Then he played once for the Turkish U- 21 team and the second selection of the Turkish national team.

With Turkey, he qualified for the FIFA World Cup in 1954 and participated in this part as a substitute goalkeeper. During the tournament, he came on June 23, 1954 against the German national team to use.

Coaching career

After his active playing career, he decided on a coaching career. So he took over as the first activity in the 1967/68 season the second division Balikesirspor. In the 1975/76 season he took over Trabzonspor and coached this club until the winter break. 1977 and 1978 he trained twice the western Turkish second division club Denizlispor.

In 1979 he took over as interim Fenerbahce and managed the team for 13 competitive play games.

For the 1980/81 season he was introduced as head coach of the traditional club Altay Izmir and managed the club until the winter break. In 1982, he coached the then second division Karagümrük SK Istanbul. This club he coached in the period from 1988 to 1989 one more time.
