Sulz (Altmühl)

The Sulz- source on Tyrolsberg

The Sulz is a left tributary of the Altmühltherme in Bavaria.

It rises at the Tyrol mountain in the west of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate on the Rhine -Danube watershed and flows thence along the western edge of the Upper Palatinate Jura to the south, a small piece right between Main -Danube Canal and Ludwig-Danube- Main Canal. After Berching it is discharged into the Main -Danube Canal on and just before Beilngries it again. After it has passed through the city, which then flows into the Altmühltherme Sulz.

Mountain and place Sulzbürg derive their name from the small leisurely flowing waters.

At the mills that once meandering Sulz has operated, still remembers the Gößelthalmühle south of Plankstetten monastery.
