Suman Sahai

Suman Sahai is an Indian activist and founder of the Gene Campaign.

Career

Sahai received a Ph.D. from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in 1975. then worked successively at the University of Alberta, the University of Chicago and the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg, where she received her habilitation in human genetics. According to the Web of Science Sahai has published over 40 articles that have been cited 150 times, mostly on political issues related to genetically modified organisms. She has an h- index of 7

Controversy

In April 2013 it was demonstrated that Sahai had in her habilitation thesis, which was submitted to the University of Heidelberg in 1986, plagiarized. In addition, she had often presented as a professor of this university, without ever actually occupied such a position.
