Sunbelt Personal Firewall

The Sunbelt Personal Firewall ( SPF) was a personal firewall for Microsoft Windows. The software was formerly known as the name of Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall and Kerio Personal Firewall and was discontinued in May 2011 ultimately.

The Sunbelt Personal Firewall is available for Windows XP ( Home, Professional and Media Center Edition ), Windows 2000 Professional and since version 4.6 for Windows Vista. The operating systems Windows 98 and ME was no longer supported since version 4.2. Were also not supported 64- bit versions of Windows. The program is distributed as shareware, which could be used for the first 30 days without functional restrictions. Then the software could either be purchased or continue to be used as a limited edition. In the free version lacked Content Filter, host-based IDS, remote access and the ability to use the firewall on a router.

The firewall came from the Tiny Personal Firewall. The company Kerio Technologies Inc. acquired the rights to the product, developed it further and in March 2002 released the final version 2.1 under the name of Kerio Personal Firewall. The software was freeware. With version 4 of the functionality of Kerio 2003 was greatly expanded and introduced a commercial version. In September 2005, Kerio stopped the development of the product. Kerio employees justified this in the product forum so that the firewall was not profitable. A company spokesman said, Kerio wanted to concentrate on the development of Kerio Mail Server and WinRoute firewall. In December 2005, the Kerio Personal Firewall has been taken over by Sunbelt Software. In Sunbelt software was available under the name Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall. In April 2007, the name was changed to Sunbelt Personal Firewall.
