Klein's butterflyfish ( Chaetodon kleinii )

Klein's butterflyfish ( Chaetodon kleinii ) is one of only 12 to 15 inches long expectant representatives of people living in tropical coral reef butterfly fish ( Chaetodontidae ).

Dissemination

He lives in the Red Sea, Indo-Pacific from the coast of East Africa and South Africa to Hawaii, Samoa, South Japan, New Caledonia, New South Wales and east to the Galapagos Islands. Especially in New Guinea and the east coast of Australia to Sydney, he is very common.

Way of life

Sunburst Butterflyfish lives individually, in pairs, but usually in small flocks, young fish in inner reefs, older on outer reefs always near coral. They feed largely on zooplankton. Japanese scientists found in gastric examinations but also a 31% share of soft corals, sea anemones, 17% and 3% of hard coral polyps.

Aquarium maintenance

Sunburst Butterflyfish is the attitude in the marine aquarium far better than his relatives who are food specialists for the most part. He is considered a predator of the unloved Aiptasia anemones and the annoying fire, but, like any butterflyfish other sea anemones, soft and hard corals, tube worms and giant clams eat. Individual food preferences are different from individual to individual. He should always be maintained as a couple and has spawned even in private aquariums. When spawning the fish swim in the evening, after the backlight turned off and several previous experiments, oblique, at an angle of 45 °, slowly to the water surface, stopping 10 inches below it to leave suddenly eggs and sperm and quick to disappear towards the ground surface.
