Sunhoney

Sunhoney is a stone circle of type Recumbent Stone Circle (RSC ) which is very common in the region Grampian, especially on the River Dee. Feature of the RSC is a " lying stone " accompanied by two standing, high, often pointed " edge stones " that are inside the circle or near the circle. It is located about two kilometers west of Real in Aberdeenshire in Scotland.

The stone circle has more than 25 m in diameter and consists of eleven stones of red granite or gneiss. About the recumbent stone of gray granite, the horizon line of the southern hills can be seen. The resting stone seems to have fallen over. Its surface is provided with 31 bowls. A cairn ring has been added inside the circle. In the excavation in 1865 found in the center traces of cremated remains. Another dormant stone circle is located about two kilometers to the west by the church of Midmar.
