Sunroof

The term usually designates a sunroof roof opening system for motor vehicles. Sunroofs there are also over stadiums ( football pitches, tennis courts and the like), swimming pools (for example, the Gellért in Budapest, opened in 1918 ) and at or above other structures.

A car sunroof is usually made of a glass lid, a sunscreen and an electric drive. Particularly in older vehicles, a steel sliding roof or a folding roof was often built. The electric drive actuates via a pressure- rigid cable mechanism that moves the lid and in some cases the sun protection.

In high-quality sunroofs or technically complex large roofs often second electrical drives are used to obtain a complete electric sunroof which does not require manual operation.

As state of the art, the following sunroof systems are:

  • Sunroof - A roof system, wherein the lid is moved under the roof skin and is then pushed back, so that an opening is formed
  • Pop-up roof - A pop-top can be lifted back and a small opening is created. It protects against drafts, rain and sun.
  • Spoiler roof - A roof system in which the lid roof is moved over the skin
  • Large roof system - Some More end systems that can use the aforementioned variants
  • Module System - A sunroof system that is incorporated for example as a complete system in the roof of the vehicle
  • Top system - A textile roof system, not to be confused with a convertible top
  • Roll roofing system - A textile roof system, roof tarp is rolled, however.
  • Lamella roof system - A little of several glass or laminations existing system.
