Sunset Carson

Sunset Carson ( Winifred Maurice Harrison actually; born November 12, 1920 in Grace Mont, Oklahoma; † 1 May 1990 in Reno, Nevada) was an American Western actor.

Carson moved with his family at the age of about eight years to Plainview (Texas ). He participated in regional rodeo competition and claimed to have been brought by Tom Mix on the idea of ​​an acting career. This he first began in small roles and under the name of Michael Harrison. In 1944 he received a contract with the Republic Pictures, whose chief Herbert Yates also invented the stage name for him. In a small series of four films, he was the comedian Smiley Burnette as a straight set aside Man in B- westerns.

Carson moved to Columbia Pictures and then appeared in the lead role of the six short Western, which were produced for him. Also in 1946 he remained so in business. Then he was seen until two years later; with the independent Astor Pictures he took his Western series again. However, these five films were also his swan song; only in the 1970s, he began to seek the permission to engage in some films. Two of these films, however, were not even published. He was since 1950 with a small road show program and presented on stage art shots. In 1980 he presented a Western series for a local television station.

Carson was married five times.
