Suosan is a man-made sweetener; chemical point of view it is a urea derivative. Suosan is about 700 times sweeter than sucrose. In acidic solutions Suosan to be better tasting than saccharin. Due to the yellowish color Suosan DOUXAN as one of the dye -like sweeteners.

History

Suosan was discovered in 1948 by S. Petersen and E. Müller. Since then it has been studied varied, but almost never used because it breaks down the toxic 4- nitroaniline is released.
