The Supadio International Airport ( Bandara Internasional Indonesian Supadio, IATA: PNK, ICAO: WIOO ) is located approximately 17 kilometers from Pontianak, the capital of the province of Kalimantan Barat. Currently, the airport is located in the building with a new terminal building and the expansion of the airstrip to meet the international requirement.

History

It was opened in 1940 during the colonial period, called Airfield Sungai Durian and renamed in 1980 in Supadio airport. Another renaming the Sultan Hamid II International Airport in 2006 was proposed but then again discarded.

Airlines and destinations

In 2000, an international air route from Supadio Airport to Kuching Airport ( Malaysia) was opened for the first time.

Incidents

  • On 2 November 2010, a Boeing 737-400 Flight 712 overran the airline Lion Air aircraft with the designation PK- LIQ the start and runway on landing and was fully on his stomach. All 174 passengers and crew members were evacuated from the evacuation slide. Few injuries were reported there.
  • On June 1, 2012 slipped in heavy rain a Boeing 737-400 airline Sriwijaya Air from the runway. While no one was injured, but the aircraft was severely damaged.
