Superior tarsal muscle
As musculus tarsalis ( tarsal muscle Müller, Müller muscle) is called a layer of smooth muscle, which is incorporated into the eyelids.
One case is different:
- Musculus tarsalis superior: smooth muscle of the upper eyelid
- Musculus tarsalis inferior: smooth muscle of the lower eyelid
The innervation carried by fibers of the sympathetic nervous system. The musculus tarsalis streamlined the upper and lower lids together vertically and thus leads to an enlargement of the palpebral fissure.
