Supreme Administrative Court of Sweden

The Högsta förvaltningsdomstolen (Supreme Administrative Court ), according to the Constitution, the highest court of the general administrative courts in Sweden.

Seat of the Court is Birger Jarl's Torg 13 at Riddarholmen in Stockholm.

The judges, called the Judicial Council ( justitieråd ) are selected by the government. The president of the court ( ordförande ) is determined by the government. The court shall decide on appeals against decisions of the central administrative courts (singular: Kammarrätt ).

The Chancellor of Justice and the Ombudsman of the Diet may also apply to the court. The Court was established in 1909 under the name Kungliga Majesty Regeringsrätt and kept its name until the Constitution of 1974. Court president since 3 January 2011 Mats Melin.

On 8 December 2009, the government has introduced a bill introduced in the Reichstag ( prop. 2009/10: 80), has been proposed in that the court shall be called förvaltningsdomstolen 2011 Högsta Regeringsrätten from 1 January.
