Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors

The High Council of Judges and Prosecutors ( Turkish Hâkimler ve Savcılar Yüksek Kurulu, HSYK ) is responsible for the disciplinary control of the courts and for personnel matters within Turkish jurisdiction. The most important task is to elect the members of the State Council and the Court of Cassation.

It was founded on May 13, 1981 Law No. 2461 on the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors. Members

The Minister of Justice and his Secretary of State is ex officio chairman or an ordinary member of the Council. Furthermore, the HSYK consists of five regular and five substitute members who come from Kassationhsof and each State in the ratio of 3:2. These ten members are appointed by the President for four years. Re-election is possible.
