Susanna Hoffs
Susanna Hoffs Lee ( born January 17, 1959 in Newport Beach, California) is an American musician. She is a member of the band The Bangles, which celebrated great successes in the charts particularly between 1986 and 1989.
Life
Susanna Hoffs is the daughter of writer and director Tamar Simon Hoffs -. In 1993, she married the film producer and director Jay Roach, with whom she two sons (* 1995, 1998 ) has.
Her first film role was in 1978 in the musical Stony Iceland by Andrew Davis, to which her mother had written the screenplay.
Her music career began in 1981 as a singer and guitarist of the music group The Bangles. After the initial first modest success of the first album All Over the Place ( 1984) the group should bring it from the spring of 1986 with the album Different Light and titles like Manic Monday, Walk Like an Egyptian and Eternal Flame to international success.
Following the fall of 1989, the resolution of the Bangles Susanna Hoffs began a solo career.
In early 1991 released their album When You're a Boy, from which the first single My Side of the Bed prevailed best. However, all other remained behind expectations.
In autumn 1996, the second album, simply called Susanna Hoffs, but also failed to match the success of the group stage appeared.
In addition, she appeared in smaller film roles such as The Allnighter (1987).
Since reunification in 1999, Susanna Hoffs has released two new albums with the Bangles and plays with the group performs regularly.
In April 2006, published Hoffs with Matthew Sweet album Under the Covers Vol 1, which contains a selection of personal favorite songs from the 1960s. In July 2009, a continuation of this collaboration followed with songs from the 1970s on the album Under the Covers Vol 2
In the summer of 2012 appeared Hoffs ' solo album, Someday, which in turn forms a musical point of reference for the music of the 1960s.
In November 2013 came the third joint album with Matthew Sweet on the market. It is entitled Under the Covers Vol 3 and includes cover versions of pieces from the 1980s.
