Its origins lie in the now-defunct as a separate village Bussby. From the village in 1604 a court situation was separated. At that time the farm was owned by a certain Magnus Brümmer.

In the 1620s the family De la Gardie bought the farm. The farm Bussby was called from 1625 by Magnus De la Gardie Magnus. Of these, the direct Estonian translation Suuremõisa derived.

1691 was the estate by reduction into the hand of the Swedish krona.

From 1748 to 1889 the farm was owned by the noble Baltic German family Stackelberg. In the 19th century two-storey mansion was built. On the ground floor the economy rooms were located. The high first floor served representative purposes. Characteristic was a dome tower over the main entrance. The manor house was remodeled in the second half of the 19th century in the style of historicism. It originated numerous outbuildings.

In 1889, she sold the entire island Vormsi as Kronsgut to the Russian state. From 1894 onwards a girl sanatorium was housed in the building. In the 1920s and 1930s, the house was empty and fell into disrepair. Today the ruins of the old manor house are still preserved.
