Suyab

Ak - Beshim (also Ak - Beshim, the old Suyab ) is a village in Nordkirgisien in which there are extensive ruins of a city from the sixth to eighth century AD.

The old town consists of two adjacent, almost rectangular, perhaps once walled systems. In Soviet excavations two Buddhist temples, a Christian church with graveyard and a castle were discovered.

The best preserved are the Buddhist temple. One of them consisted of a group of rooms at the entrance, a large oblong courtyard, a subsequent pillared hall and a shrine behind it. In this state once a large Buddha statue in bronze, of which only remains could be found. The temple was richly painted.
