Suzy Delair

Suzy Delair ( born December 31, 1916 in Paris; native Suzanne Pierrette Delaire ) is a French actress and singer.

Life

Delair, which began an apprenticeship as a milliner at the age of 13 years, opted for the theater and played among others in the Compagnie Renaud- Barrault. Tours have taken her as far as Lebanon, Egypt, the United States and Canada. She distinguished herself as a singer in revues and operettas, for example, in pieces like Life in Paris and La Périchole. Starting at the age of 14 they also took over film roles. She became famous especially during the time of the German occupation during the Second World War. Under director Henri -Georges Clouzot she played in 1947 under false suspicion an ambitious music-hall singer. In later years it was mainly series actress. Delair worked among others during her film career with Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy ( Atoll K) and with Luchino Visconti (Rocco and his brothers ). For their recordings with arias from operettas by Jacques Offenbach, she was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque.
