History
The club was founded on March 24, 1919 under the name VfB Völklingen (from August 1919 SV Völklingen 06) established as a successor organization of the resulting on April 26, 1906 1912 also SV Völklingen 06 named and 1916 by Association of exclusion resolved FC Völklingen 06. 1945 had to be like all German clubs redissolved the club, but was re-established immediately as games and sports community Völklingen. In 1951, received the association for the second time the old name SV 06 back. On 9 May 1966, the club took the name of the steel dynasty Röchling whose Voelklinger cabin was the largest employer in the city and promoter of SV 06.
After the Second World War
A cross-regional role played by the Voelklinger only in the postwar period. After a very unsuccessful year in the Oberliga West 1947/48, three years in the independent Saarland League and eight more years in the mid-table of the third-rate amateur league Saarland Voelklinger 1961 rose after the second championship in a row in the 2nd League West, and qualified in 1963 for the newly established Regional Southwest.
This second highest German league were the Voelklinger up to their attitude in favor of the 2nd Bundesliga in the summer of 1974. 1972 and 1973 they took each as West runner-up in the promotion round to the Bundesliga in part, but failed on both occasions: in 1972, the Saarland had Offenbacher Kickers, Rot-Weiss Essen, FC St. Pauli and Wacker 04 Berlin, which are the only victory succeeded in the promotion round, to defer them. In 1973, she finished third of their group behind Rot-Weiss Essen and SV Darmstadt 98 and before the VfL Osnabrück and Wacker 04 Berlin.
2 Bundesliga
In 1974, the Voelklinger founding member of the 2nd Bundesliga. After three years she acted as table Sixteenth voluntarily to the retreat in the amateur league Saarland. In 1979 she once again rose up in the second league, but remained only one year.
1981-2012
1982 overthrew the Voelklinger in the Viertklassigkeit. 1983/84 they played one more year in the amateur league, then again only in the 2002/03 season, at the end they descended again. The following seven years were the Voelklinger in sechstklassigen Saarland league. After two second places (2006 and 2010) they picked 2011 sovereign with 21 points ahead of the runner- SC Halberg Brebach the champion of the Saarland League and thus rose to the Oberliga West (since 2012/13 Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar ) on.
DFB-Pokal
One of the biggest successes of the club history was reaching the DFB Cup quarter- final in the 1975/76 season, which lost the Saarland at Hertha BSC 1:2 after extra time.

Röchling Völklingen plays once in 16,000, now 9,000 -seat Hermann Neuberger Stadium. The attendance record dated October 26, 1975, when the SV Röchling Völklingen played against 1 FC Saarbrücken before 16,380 spectators.
