Svante Rasmuson

Svante Rasmuson ( born November 18, 1955 in Uppsala ) is a former Swedish Modern pentathlete who won two Olympic medals.

Rasmuson began his sporting career as a swimmer at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he reached the 100 - meter freestyle swimming the semi-finals, but there different from the last. Four years later at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, he took up the modern pentathlon, where he could show his best performances in fencing, swimming and cross country skiing. After he had been in riding as 40 far behind, he could catch up in his strong disciplines yet and missed the bronze medal with 5373 points by Pawel Lednjow only nine points. With Lennart Pettersson and George Horvath Rasmuson won the bronze medal in the team competition behind the team from the Soviet Union and Hungary.

Four years later, at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles took the Swedish team to tenth place. In the individual competition Rasmuson struggled with Daniele Masala for the gold medal, in the end he won with thirteen points behind the silver medal. Rasmuson also appeared in 1988 in Seoul again at, with the 22nd place in the individual standings and but in twelfth place with the team he could not intervene in the fight for the medals.
