Svatý Jan (Příbram District)

Svatý Jan ( German St. Johann ob Skrejschow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. Located 23 kilometers southeast of Pribram and belongs to Příbram.

Geography

The place is located on the right side of the Vltava River valley in the basin of the river Brzina in the Central Bohemian hills. Neighboring towns are Skrýšov, Jedle, Samoty and medna in the north, and Štíleček Hrabří in the east, Smrčí in the south, southwest, and Brzina Bražná in the west.

History

On a miraculous spring on the wooded hill above Skrýšov and Jedle built in 1705 the lord Adam Ignaz Mladota of the Fourteen Holy Helpers Solopisk one and St.. John of Nepomuk chapel dedicated. At that time, was located in the woods only a forester's house.

After the princely Schwarzenberg chief forester Norbert Kfelíř ze Zakšova had acquired the dominion Skrýšov, he left in the years 1760 to 1764 to build the Baroque Church of St. John of Nepomuk in place of the chapel. In the first church was built a house for the chaplain, and finally a settlement that podle the name kostela received ( under the church ). In order to better distinguish it from other places, the term svatý Jan nad Skrýšovem arose.

As a minister of the Castle Kaplan Thaler angel was used, and later the spiritual care until its dissolution in 1785 was carried out by the locust brotherhood. After the abolition of patrimonial svatý Jan was a separate municipality.

The municipality consists of the villages svatý Jan Bražná ( Braschna ) Brzina ( Bresin ) Drážkov ( Draschkow ) Hojšín ( Hojschin ) Hrachov ( Hrachow ) Řadovy ( wheel ), Skrýšov ( Skrejschow ) and svatý Jan (St. Johann ) as well as the settlements Buzice ( Busitz ) Přívozec ( Pschiwosetz ) Radobyl, Šourkův Mlýn.
