Sven Kmetsch

Sven Kmetsch ( Upper Sorbian Sven Kmjeć; born August 13, 1970 in Bautzen ) is a former German football player and current football coach.

Career as a player

Association

Kmetsch began his career with BSG Motor Grossdubrau and the BSG Motor Bautzen. In 1981 he moved to the youth department of Dynamo Dresden and was with the junior team in 1988 GDR Champion. In the DDR - Oberliga Kmetsch graduated from nine matches and scored one goal, then he played from 1991 to 1995 with Dynamo Dresden in the 1st Bundesliga. After Dynamo Dresden in 1995 denied a license, Kmetsch moved to Hamburger SV, for which he completed a total of 80 league games in three seasons. From 1998 to 2005 Kmetsch played for FC Schalke 04, which he in 2001 and 2002 won the DFB Cup.

National

1989 Kmetsch was appointed to the football Olympic team of the GDR, with whom he performed in several test games. Even before the start of the qualifiers for the Olympic Summer Games in 1992, the team was withdrawn in the wake of German reunification.

Career as a coach

In 2005, he ended his career and was assistant coach of the second team of FC Schalke 04 After Michael Büskens was first-team coach, Kmetsch took over his position as coach of the second team.
