Sven Ratke

Sven Ratke ( born January 3, 1972 in Niesky ) is a former German football player and current coach. With Dynamo Dresden in 1990 he was champion in the DDR - Oberliga and fdgb Cup winner.

Career

Sven Ratkes career began at the SG Dynamo Görlitz, later he moved to BSG Motor Niesky. From 1984 he played in the youth of Dynamo Dresden. In 1988 he was East German youth champion. On 17 March 1990, the then 18 -year-old came to its first use in the GDR Oberliga. In the rest of the season he still came to some applications, mostly as a substitute. On the final day, he scored his first goal for Dresden in the big leagues. It was the 3-1 final score in the match against Lok Leipzig, which meant the championship. In the same year it was also fdgb Cup winner. In the final Ratke came on in the 74th minute for Matthias Döschner. The following season Ratke approached with his club in the European Cup of Champions. He played five times in this competition and scored a goal. It was eliminated in the quarterfinals. In the League Dynamo finished second and qualified for the football league, as the leagues of the former German Democratic Republic were dissolved. By 1995 Ratke played 48 times for Dresden in the Bundesliga, 32 times as " Joker" and scored a goal.

For the 1995/96 season he moved to SV Lurup in the Regionalliga Nord. In the winter he left the club and went to VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga 2. He succeeded his coach Willi Reimann, who started already in October 1995 at VfL Wolfsburg and previously coached the SV Lurup. VfL Ratke initially served a regular place, but this lost 1996/97 again. In 1997 he joined with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. On the final day there had been 05 ( 4th place) to rise final between Wolfsburg (3rd place) and 1 FSV Mainz. Ratke, who had previously been only 12 times in the season to use, came on in the 68th minute by Willi Reimann, upping the score 5-3 in the 76th minute.
