Svenska Orienteringsförbundet

The Swedish Orienteering Federation (Swedish: Svenska Orienteringsförbundet, SOFT) is the national Orienteering Association in Sweden. It was founded in 1938 and is the oldest national orienteering federation in the world.

History

The association was founded on January 6, 1938. Therefore Sweden had a national Orienteering Association was the first country. In Finland and Norway, the umbrella organizations founded 1945. Yet in 1938 was admitted to the Swedish Empire Sports Association. 1961 was one of the founding members of the SOFT International Orienteering Federation.

Currently, more than 90,000 members organized in 600 clubs.
