Sverre Diesen

This Sverre ( born November 18, 1949 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian general and was from 2005 to 2009 a military commander of the Norwegian Armed Forces ( Norges Forsvarssjef ).

Biography

After school he studied civil engineering and then worked as a civil engineer before he joined the armed forces and there between 1976 and 1979 graduate of the military school was. This was followed by his promotion to lieutenant and then to captain (1983 ), Major (1988 ), lieutenant colonel (1991) and then to colonel (1996).

In 1998 he was promoted to brigadier general and was as such from 1998 to 2001 head of the Department of Strategy and long-term planning in the General Staff of the High Command. This was followed by 2001 he was promoted to major general and at the same time he was appointed chief of the District Command North Norway. In 2002 he moved to the post of commander of the land forces.

Subsequently, he was promoted to lieutenant general in 2003 and was between 2003 and 2005 Military Undersecretary of Defense and thus close associate of Kristin Krohn Devold defense minister.

After his promotion to General Sverre was this appointed military commander of the armed forces in 2005. This office he retained until his passing in retirement at the end of September 2009.
