Svinjare

Svinjare / Свињаре (Albanian Svinjare ) is a village in the greater community of Kosovska Mitrovica in Kosovo with originally 680 Serbian and Albanian inhabitants.

For the serious unrest in March 2004 KFOR evacuated on 18 March, the 300 Serbian inhabitants of the village, shortly after whose homes and possessions were burned and looted by Albanians. After the riots, the provisional self-government in Kosovo constituted a committee which took the design of all houses, public buildings and property of religious community, which were destroyed during the riots in attack. In Svinjare 137 of the 141 houses destroyed should be rebuilt. However, the houses were (as of February 2006) of poor quality, also lacked the infrastructure. This meant that by February 2006, only five returnees lived there. The few Serbs living there complain of impairment of their personal safety.
