Svojanov

Svojanov ( German Swojanow ) is a town with 366 inhabitants ( 1 January 2005) in the region Pardubice Region (Czech Republic) in the deep valley of the river Křetínka.

History

1287 the village was first mentioned. The story Svojanovs is closely related to the homonymous castle. This was built by King Premysl Otakar II as a protective castle on the Trstěnický riser and was later also the seat of Zawisch of Falkenstein and Queen Gwendolyn. Since 2006 Svojanov is a Městys again.
