The Swiss computer science society (SI ) is a Swiss organization of scientists and specialists in the field of computer science.

Construction

The company was founded by Carl August Zehnder, Kurt Bauknecht and Pierre -André Bobillier 1983, when there were the first graduates in computer science. From 1990 to 1992 Helmar Burkhart was president since 2009 Bernhard M. Hammerli has held the office. SI has about 2000 members, academics in research and teaching and representatives from business, government and education. The company is the largest organization of computer science specialists in Switzerland. A major concern of SI is the exchange between education and application. There are about 20 different working groups, including computer graphics, information security, open government data, cloud computing and Green IT. A working group, which is coordinated by the ETH Zurich, deals with databases in theory and application. The section SIRA, which was founded in 2012, belong to the 300 professors of computer science. The company operates as a network for its members and represents their interests in politics and education.

Networking

SI works in an international exchange with the U.S. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM ) and the German Society for computer science (GI ). The organization is a member of the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies ( CEPIS ). SI is the Swiss partner for the international certificate European Computer Driving Licence ( ECDL). The Company participates in conferences, such as 2013 in Zurich on the role of efficient energy and sustainable development ( " Information and Communication Technologies (ICT ) in energy efficiency and sustainable development" ). It represents the Swiss computer science in the scientific federations Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences ( SATW) and the International Federation for Information Processing ( IFIP ).
