Swiss Progressive Organisations

The Progressive Organizations of Switzerland ( POCH ) was founded in 1969 from the student movement as a communist party. The members were young and rather intellectual.

History of POCH

1977 split many women's groups on the POCH and founded the Organization for the cause of women ( OFRA ). In 1987, the POCH distanced from Marxism-Leninism and renamed themselves POCH - Green. After the dissolution of the individual cantonal parties between the late 1970s and 1993, many POCH - members joined the Green Party in, some even the Social Democrats, and the party was dissolved. As a final cantonal section that broke up in Basel -Stadt, from which the still existing party Basta emerged.

Its origin in the POCH has the still existing Rotpunktverlag in Zurich. This was in 1976, " Red Dot Publishing (RPV ) " was founded as a cooperative decision of the party leadership with the purpose " to promote the publication and dissemination of socialist literature ."

Indirect successor of POCH in the city of Zurich is the alternative list which was established by resolution of the local POCH section.
