Swiss University Conference

The Swiss University Conference (SUC ) is in Switzerland, the joint organization of the Confederation and the cantons for university politics. It was ( in 1969 was the foundation ) used by the agreement between the Federal Government and University Cantons on Matters Relating to Universities area on 1 January 2001 as the successor organization of the Swiss University Conference.

Tasks

The SUC has binding decisions in defined areas and has the following tasks:

  • Adoption of framework regulations on the study recommended times and on the recognition of studies and qualifications, which are binding on the agreement partners;
  • Granting of Project grants;
  • Periodic assessment of the allocation of the national research priorities from the viewpoint of total division of activities among universities;
  • Recognition of institutions or programs;
  • Adoption of guidelines for the assessment of teaching and research;
  • Adoption of guidelines for the implementation of knowledge in research.
  • Moreover, the SUC makes recommendations to cooperate, to multi-year plan and a balanced division of labor in the university area, informing them of their shops and consult the relevant stakeholders.
  • Annual recommendation by the application of a numerus clausus and the implementation of the aptitude test for medical studies in medicine at the university cantons with medical education in Switzerland, if the training capacity is exceeded by 20 % and the problem can not be solved by redirects.

Composition

The SUC is made up of the ministers of education and ministers of education of the University of cantons, two Directors of Education of non- university cantons, the Secretary of State for Education and Research and the President of the ETH Board. With an advisory seat on, the President of the Rectors' Conference of the Swiss Universities, the Vice - Director of "education" in the State Secretariat for Education and Research and the Director of the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology. The shops of the SUC are led by a General Secretariat, which also accompanies the commission of the SUC: the Conference of the service chiefs Higher Education, the Institute for the university buildings as well as the steering committees opportunities, Consortium of Academic Libraries and cost accounting.

The SUC is working closely with the Rectors' Conference of the Swiss Universities, which is entrusted with the treatment of transactions academic nature.
