The Syamsudin Noor Airport ( Indonesian Bandara Syamsudin Noor, IATA: BDJ, ICAO: WAOO ) is the airport of Banjarmasin, the capital of the Indonesian province of Kalimantan Selatan. It is located in sub-district ( Kecamatan ) Landasan Ulin located in the district ( kabupaten ) Banjarbaru about 25 km southwest of the Banjarmasin. The last expansion of the airport was completed in 2004, allowing him the inclusion of four central and four short-haul aircraft. Judging by the number of passengers it is the eighth largest airport in Indonesia, despite the lack of international flight connection.

History

The Syamsuddin Noor Airport in 1936 during the Dutch colonial period under the name Lapangan Terbang ( German airfield ) Ulin built. In 1944 the Japanese occupation government built the airfield on the length of 2,220 meters and width of 45 meters. After the destruction of the airfield by bombing in the Second World War, the Dutch Colonial Administration ( NICA ) allowed strengthen the runway with stones. After the takeover by the Indonesian ministry of civil aviation, the airfield was expanded into a civilian airport on to say that a Fokker F-28 could land on.

On April 9, 1970, the airport after the local aviation pioneer, was Lieutenant Syamsudin Noor renamed.

1977 established the Ministry of Transport today's runway 80 meters north of the old, which allowed the landing of a DC-9.
