Sybase

Sybase (proper spelling: Sybase, an SAP Company ) is a provider of enterprise and mobile software to manage, analyze and mobilize information. In these areas fall mainly databases, development and design tools, synchronization and replication software, and products for the mobile enterprise (PDA, mobile phone, ... ), which also includes services (SMS, MMS, IMS, Mobile Payment, ... ) for mobile phone companies are. The company is a subsidiary of SAP AG.

Sybase has operations and offices in over 60 countries (as of July 2011) and employed 3,726 employees worldwide in 2010.

History

  • The company Sybase (initially under the name of system goods) was founded in 1984 by Mark Hoffman and Bob Epstein, Berkeley ( California).
  • Beginning of 1988 went into a partnership with Sybase and Ashton- Tate, a Microsoft marketing of SQL Server for the new operating system OS / 2
  • In November 1994, Sybase acquired Powersoft, the company, which had previously become the owner of Watcom.
  • In May 2000, Sybase founded the subsidiary iAnywhere Solutions.
  • In February 2003, Sybase AvantGo took over, thus strengthening the position of iAnywhere.
  • In May 2004, the company acquired XcelleNet integrated Sybase and iAnywhere in Dejima.
  • In May 2005, Sybase extended its information management and mobility solutions through the acquisition of ISDD and Avaki.
  • In June 2006, Sybase acquired the Solonde AG.
  • In November 2006, Sybase acquired Mobile 365, a service provider for international SMS and MMS exchange for network provider and supplier of premium services.
  • Beginning of 2009, the Sybase paybox Solutions AG from Raunheim with their range of products for mobile payments and integrated them into Sybase 365 Sybase 365, 2008, passed by more than 200 billion messages (SMS and MMS).
  • On 12 May 2010 it was announced that the Board of Directors has approved the acquisition of Sybase by SAP. SAP was able to complete the acquisition of Sybase on 30 July 2010. Since then Sybase is a wholly owned subsidiary of SAP America.
