Syktyvkar

Syktyvkar (Russian Сыктывкар, komi Сыктывкар, scientific transliteration Syktyvkar ) is the capital of the Komi Republic in the Russian Federation District Northwestern Federal District, with 235 006 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

History

Beginning of the 17th century here was the settlement Syssolskoje (Russian Сысольское ), 1780, the settlement of Ust - Syssolsk (Russian Усть - Сысольск ) and was a place of exile.
