Sylvain Freiholz
Sylvain free Wood ( born November 23, 1974 in Le Brassus ) is a retired Swiss ski jumper. He jumped for the SC Le Brassus.
Career
Free Wood made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup as a 16- year-old on 2 December 1990 in Lake Placid and immediately reached rank 27, just a week after he finished fifth in Thunder Bay, and in the Four Hills Tournament, he was this year, eight of Appreciation. In the following years free wood belonged to the advanced world-class ski jumpers.
At the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 he reached on the normal hill on the 24th, on the big hill on the 14th rank; in the Finnish Vuokatti he was in the same year junior vice champion behind Toni Nieminen. For this success, the Swiss Sports Aid Foundation as a Swiss student athletes of the year 1992 drew from him. His best World Cup result, he reached the following winter; in Engelberg, he finished second.
In the following years, although he was in the World Cup rather rare in the front ranks, but was at the World Championships again and again in great shape. So he reached in 1995 in Thunder Bay ranked fourth on the normal hill; 1997 in Trondheim he was seventh on the normal hill and won on the big hill the bronze medal. In the following years, however, he was unable to repeat this success.
At national level, won free wood seven titles at the Swiss Championships. After the winter of 2002 /03 he finished his career. Today was studying microelectronics works in his hometown of Le Brassus as a watchmaker with his longtime sponsor Audemars Piguet.
