Sylvie Lespérance

Sylvie Lesperance ( born December 21, 1954 in Jonquière, † September 22, 2006 in Saint -Adolphe -de- Rodriguez) was a Canadian politician in the province of Quebec.

Education and work

After a diploma in nursing (1975 ) she obtained in other studies a Bachelor of Science from the University of Montréal ( 1981) and a Masters in Gerontology at the University of Sherbrooke (1996). Since 1975 she was a member of the Association of Nurses of Quebec. After training she worked in various areas in hospitals in Sherbrooke and was for several years chairman of the Alliance of Nurses of Sherbrooke. From 1984 to 1996 she was on various administrative positions in the union of employees in the health care and social security ( AGESS ) operates, including as Vice President and President.

Political activities

As a candidate of the Parti Libéral they defeated both 1989 and 1998 elections to the National Assembly of Quebec. In a by-election in the electoral district of Joliette, she was elected as a candidate of the Action démocratique du Québec to the National Assembly of Quebec on ​​17 June 2002, but lost that seat the following year again at the general election of 12 March 2003.
