Sylwia Gruchała

Sylwia Gruchała ( born November 6, 1981 in Gdynia ) is a Polish - Foil Fencing.

The sports student from Gdansk is one of the most popular athletes of their country. After a few junior successes, she was known at the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, when she won the silver medal in the foil team. She was also the first time in 2000 European Champion. This success could be repeated in 2002 and 2005.

2003 and 2007, she was with the Polish team world champion and 2003 World silver medalist in the individual. The finale at these World Championships in Havana, she lost to the Italian Valentina Vezzali. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she then won the bronze medal her first individual medal at the Olympic Games.
