Symposium (Xenophon)

Xenophon describes a fictional feast as BC in Athens would have the circumstances and speeches by any time in the 5th century can take place. He moved it into the house of the noble and rich Callias, who had interviewed following a horse race it. Socrates and Athenians take part. A jester and a music group occur. The distance move at the height of a conversation stalled even occasionally and then brought Socrates again. The speeches are sometimes serious times cheerful. Socrates ' contributions are the important spiritual center, without leading to comparable models as in Plato's Symposium. The description gives a vivid impression of the fun socializing a guest meal and brings Socrates closer to human.
