Synchronized swimming at the 2008 Summer Olympics
In the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 in synchronized swimming two competitions were held for the ladies, a duet and with the team. A team consisted of nine athletes. Participants were allowed a total of eight teams and 24 duets, each nation could only send a team and duet at the start of each tournament. It qualified for the team competition, the winners of the five continental knockouts in 2007 and 2008, the People's Republic of China was regarded as the representative of Asia. In addition, the top three nations of a qualifying tournament arrived in Beijing in April 2008. Sent one of the continents a representative, the next highest scoring teams advanced after this qualifying tournament. The qualified for the team competition nations could each nominate a duet, both athletes had also belong to the team. The other 16 places were also awarded in the qualifying tournament, each continent an additional duet was safe.
