Magnesium silicate is a chemical compound selected from the group of silicates, more specifically the magnesium salt of silicic acid.
Occurrence
Of course, magnesium silicate comes in different hydrated forms before as talc and sepiolite, and as part of the serpentine group minerals.
Use
Magesiumsilikat used in the analytical and preparative chromatography as standard absorbents. Furthermore, magnesium silicate and magnesium trisilicate (: 14987-04-3, PubChem: Mg2Si3O8 • x H2O, CAS 5311266 ) is used as a food additive under the name E 553a used as a filler and release agents. They thereby prevent the clumping of powdered foods and the body (because not recyclable) excreted unchanged again and therefore are regarded as harmless.
