Synthetism

Synthetism ( from the French synthétiser: summarize ) is an art movement within the post-impressionist art, which arose from a union of Cloisonismus and symbolism. They can be understood as a counter-current to Pointillism. It was founded about 1888 by Paul Gauguin, Émile Bernard, Louis Anquetin and other artists of the so-called School of Pont -Aven. She became known through an exhibition in Paris Café Volpini to the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889.

The artist sought to synthetistische to combine three things:
