The Syrabach is a body of water in the Saxon Vogtland.

Although only nine kilometers long, the river is key to the region. Already in the first deed of Vogtland from 1122 he is mentioned under the name Siroune as boundary waters of the district Dobna. The geologically by the mouth of the Syrabaches in the Weisse Elster created by two waters spur was used to plant the town of Plauen. Derived was the name probably from altsorbischen word zir, which stands for " pasture " or "feed". Today, people call the Syrabach also like to briefly as Syra.

The source is located at about 520 m above sea level. NN in the flour Theurer forest near the B282. Here the creek flows in an easterly direction, leaving the grove meadow and the forest happened shortly after the place Syrau, which was named after him.

Behind Syrau runs through the creek in a southeasterly direction, the site of the former military training area of the Soviet Army, then reaches the Plauen district Kauschwitz and flows among fields in the straightened river bed towards the city center of Plauen. At the wood mill, the conservation area Syratal, the central recreation area Plauens begins. Surrounded by deciduous forest flows the stream again in the natural bed in a Kerbsohlental on. The Syratal is spanned by the Syratalbrücke, a large viaduct (209 m long and 32 m high) in 11 sheets. This bridge was built for the railway Plauen- Eger. A few meters further happening of the Bach Dobenaufelsen, according to legend, the headquarters of the Dobnagaues.
