Syracuse (satellite)

Syracuse is the name of an operated by the French space agency CNES program for military communications satellites.

From 1980 to 2005 nine geostationary satellites with the name Syracuse I and Telecom 1A, 1B, 1C, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D and Syracuse IIIA were transported into space. The initial weight increased from 0.7 t to 3.72 t I at Syracuse in Syracuse IIIA.

The Syracuse III satellites are based on the Spacebus -4000 -B3 - satellite platform and produced by Alcatel Alenia Space.

Syracuse 3B

On August 12, 2006 starting at 00:15 CEST clock from Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, another satellite of the series with Syracuse IIIB name at the top of an Ariane 5 rocket in de space. It has a weight of 3750 kg and a value of approximately € 2.3 billion. He has nine SHF and EHF six channels and can simultaneously communicate with up to 600 ground stations between the eastern U.S. and eastern China. He was stationed at 5 degrees west and is designed for a service life of 12 years.
