System Link
System Link is a kind of multiplayer game on the Xbox and Xbox 360 via a local area network. It may be a switch or a simple RJ45 cable be used to connect the brackets together. When using the old Xbox a crossover cable is required while the new Xbox 360 also allows a connection via a simple LAN cable. In this type of compound, only two systems can be used together. Using a switch, up to eight consoles are connected to carry a game with up to 32 players out.
The purpose of system links is also offline to play with more than four players, or to bypass the split screen.
System Link can also take place via VPNs, which allows LAN parties over the Internet.
