System-Locked Preinstallation

System - Locked Preinstallation (SLP) is a form of the Windows installation by an OEM computer manufacturers, in the end customer eliminates the otherwise mandatory since Windows XP product activation.

Operation

An SLP install Windows starts, it searches for certain information in the BIOS of the computer system, identifying the relevant OEMs. If this information is found, Windows will automatically activate. Absence of the relevant data, so Windows to behave like a normal retail version and must be activated within 30 days at Microsoft.
