Sywoc

The Student Yachting World Cup ( SYWoC ) is a world sailing championship for students which is organized every year by students of the Ecole Polytechnique. When SYWoC the world's best sailors occur among the students for a week against each other. Each year, about a dozen countries participate. These include Japan, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, USA, England, Scotland, Germany, ...

SYWoC 2008

The 2008 edition took place from 24 October to 1 November 2008 in La Trinité- sur -Mer instead. It took eleven crews in part from ten countries. The Société Nautique de la Trinité- sur -Mer has helped in the organization on the water.

History

The sailing world championship of students ( Student Yachting World Cup in English, former European race ) is organized every year since 1976 by students of the Ecole Polytechnique. They agreed each year the best sailing crews of the universities in the world for existing sailing race.

As is the race in 1979, built only a few European countries have participated. Since then, many countries have participated: Eastern Europe, Japan, USA and Australia, which is made of the European race a real world championship.

Each year the SYWoC a French port as a base ( the previous editions have in Lorient, Royan, Marseille, La Trinité, Toulon ... place ) for an entire week near the Allerheiligens.

The 2006 edition took place in Lorient from October 28 to November 4. 13 crews have participated in an intense competition for a week, as well as to parties that were so memorable. The winner this year was Ireland with the crew Trinity College of Dublin.

The 2007 edition of the SYWoC has unite fifteen crews. They took place in La Rochelle on 27 October, and November 3. The winner was the welding with the Department of l' Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
