Szkotowo

Szkotowo [ ʃkɔtɔvɔ ] ( German: river Skottau ) is a village in Poland, 10 km north- west of the city Nidzica. It belongs to the municipality Kozłowo, powiat Nidzicki in the Warmia and Mazury

History

The first written mention of the village was the river Skottau on 14 October in 1348. River Skottau belonged until 1945 to the district Neidenburg in East Prussia and was the capital of the parish of the same game. A church existed in the river Skottau before the Reformation. On 20 January 1945 river Skottau was occupied by Soviet troops. From 1975 to 1998, the village belonged to the voivodeship Olsztyn.

Parish

Until 1945, the river Skottau was a Protestant parish. At this parish were also the places Frankenau, Kownatken, Lippau, Michalken and Rontzken.
