T-Centralen

T- centralen forms the heart of Stockholm subway network. The T at the beginning of the station name stands for Tunnelbana ( swedish for subway). At the station T -Centralen take all the lines of the Stockholm metro system together. This circumstance and the situation in the city center and close to the Central Station ( " Central Stations" ) make the station to the most frequented in the Swedish capital. It is located in the district of Norrmalm, between Sergels Torg and Vasagatan.

On a normal working day 161,000 commuters rise to here. About a subterranean passage leads from here to Stockholm Central Station with regional and long-distance connections, as well as to the central bus station " City Terminal ". The passage facilitates long-distance travelers the transition to the subway.

On January 27, 1958, the name of the station " centralen " was. But since it was often confused with the central station, the name was changed.

First stop: Green Line ( line 17-19) and Red Line (line 13 and 14)

The station was opened on 24 November 1957 as the 38th station in the Stockholm subway network. This part of the station T -Centralen cross the Green Line (L 17-19) from the direction of Gamla stan ( Old Town) and Hötorget, and the Red Line (L 13-14) between Gamla Stan and Östermalmstorg. The station is located just below the kyrka Klara ( Klara Church ) and the department store Åhléns.

The station has two platforms on different levels. The upper level is 8.5 feet below the ground and is used by the northward moving trains of the Green Line ( direction Hässelby beach, Alvik and Åkeshov ) and the southward moving trains on the Red Line used ( direction Fruängen and Norsborg ). The lower platform is 14 meters deep and is of the southward moving trains of the Green Line ( direction Farsta beach, Hagsätra and Skarpnäck ) operated and the northward moving trains on the Red Line ( direction Mörby centrum and Ropsten ).

This part of the station has two entrances. The southern of which is located southwest and two doors towards Vasagatan 20, Klara Västra Kyrkogatan 20 and to the underground passage to Stockholm Central Station, which was opened on 1 December 1958. The second input is the northeast and has doors to Drottninggatan to Sergels Torg 16 and 48 Klarabergsgatan

Second Station: Blue Line (line 10 and 11)

The second part of T- centralen was opened on 31 August 1975 as the 79th station in the Stockholm subway network. The Blue Line runs from here both in the direction Kungsträdgården ( east ) and in the direction Akalla and Hjulsta (northwest ). The station is located just below the department store Åhléns and the main post " Central Items". It is located about 30 meters deep and has a platform.

The station has two entrances. The first has two doors to Vasagatan 9 ( about 150 meters north of the main station at Vasagatan ) and opposite to Vasagatan 36 The northern output is connected to the other part of the station and leads to Sergels torg. To get from here to the Blue Line, you have to use the elevators.

Several artists were involved in the development of the metro station T -Centralen.

Output Vasagatan

The walls are decorated with a pattern that the artist Jörgen Fågelqvist " Tur och retur " ( " There and Back " ) has been called. The decor dates back to 1957 and in 1962 and 1995 supplements.
